Swansea and Southampton currently both occupy Champions League positions in the league table and both clubs will be hoping they can stay there for as long as possible. Southampton will be full of confidence after the 4-0 win over Newcastle, whereas Swansea will be keen to ensure defeat to Chelsea doesn’t have a massive impact on their impressive early season form.

Former Southampton manager Alan Pardew returns to the club today hoping that his Newcastle side can go some of the way to easing the pressure he is currently under. Pardew’s days as manager of the Magpies are rumoured to be numbered, with owner Mike Ashley supposedly losing patience. Having conceded a 95th minute equaliser to Palace two weeks ago, Newcastle are still searching for their first win of the season.

It’s been somewhat refreshing to hear the new faces arriving at Southampton this summer stating that Ronald Koeman played a large part in their decision to join the club. Being able to attract quality players to your team is a big bonus, especially if those players are better than the ones you already have in your squad. Koeman has shown that he has the required reputation to lure quality players – such as Toby Alderweireld – to Southampton and the ability to sell the clubs ambitions to those individuals.
