Go Marching In is a Southampton Football Club fan site that launched in 2010. Back then the club had just suffered relegation from the Championship and had started life in League One with a ten point deduction due to administration. There was plenty to talk about both on and off the pitch.
Changing the focus
During an incredible six year journey Southampton propelled themselves back to the Premier League, establishing themselves as a top ten team with aspirations of regularly qualifying for European competition.
That meteoric rise up the pyramid of English football also coincided with the rise and popularity of football blogging. Many Saints fans now run well written sites and plenty of people are now having their say. That’s definitely not a bad thing, but what is missing from Southampton’s online community is a one stop shop for player and team data.
“How long does James Ward-Prowse have left on his contract?”, “How many appearances has Jose Fonte made?” and “How are Saints doing compared to this time last season?” are questions that should be easy to answer without having to search through multiple websites.
Think Wikipedia and the official Southampton FC site rolled into one. That’s what Go Marching In now aims to be.
Whether you need to check facts for an article you’re writing (and you should always check facts), or trying to settle an argument in the pub about who Kelvin Davis made his debut against. This is the site for you.
